Marmalade Parade

by Will Magid

/

about

A quirky Mardi-Gras inspired number with clarinet, trombone, tuba, hand claps, and of course plenty of trumpet to go around.

I had a lot of fun making this with friends (listed below). This recording is best enjoyed with your speaker cranked and an open heart.

In the spirt of New Orleans -- get up and move around, have a mini parade in whatever space you find yourself.

Based on a 1919 composition by James Reese Europe. Europe was a very significant pre-jazz artist, he took rag time melodies (traditionally played on piano) and orchestrated them for military brass bands during world war one. You might also hear a piano riff inspired by Professor Longhair in there. Took a while to figure out how to play that! Okay. I'm done now. Enjoy the music and thanks for tuning in.
